<philosophical mode on> Any Linux newbie has to start from knowing the system, not with tool that give an abscraction of a system. Then there is no difference between a Linux newbie, and a Windows newbie. The thing is, if you use these high abscraction level config tools, you never know what actually happens, and this is not what Linux was meant for. Linux wants you to shift from a newbie to a Guru level, while Windows users remain newbies always.
