Hi!

You have posted to the wrong list.. LIP is for programmers ... LIH is
where you should be asking for help!!

LIH would be the right place....

 |first of all i think i have not installed the O/s
 |properly, and i have little programming knowledge.

If your system boots up and you can login ... your OS is installed
properly.. all other changes/fixes can be done without re-installing.
(Unfortunately linux is incapable of doing the M$FT magic trick of a
reinstallation fixing up exisiting problems and cropping up new ones!)

No Programming knowledge required to use linux... but it does help to pick
up a little :)

You need to give more details... what desktop ... what icons etc

 |there are three partitios hda7, hda8, and hda9
 |but i am unable to get access to hda7 and hda8, so
 |please tell me how to aceess hda7, and hda8. i have
 |installed the o/s in hda9.
 |i am using hda1, hda5, hda6 for windows.

are hda7 and 8 formatted ???

if they are formatted... you can mount them under linux
if they aren't format them and then mount them!! :)

(to format the partitions with linux e2fs filesystem)
mke2fs /dev/hda7
mke2fs /dev/hda8
