I have applied the kernel patches from 2.4.2 onwards till 2.4.12 on the
sources of 2.4.1 given by PCQ. Now I have got a tar.gz file of 2.4.12
kernel with all the patches applied. I have not faced problems like above.

May be corrupted download.

Which sources have u taken as the base for applying patches till 2.4.9 ?

Peace

Sub : Changing default OS under LILO LOST #182

Edit /etc/lilo.conf. Put a line in /etc/lilo.conf:
default=oslabel # where oslabel is label the preferred OS
Then, Do: /sbin/lilo -v
Now next time you start lilo, default OS will alter.
