I dont know about playing VCD's files directly but plaympeg definitely
can play fullscreen mpeg files remember it is plaympeg not playvcd :). I
have a feeling plaympeg can't play VCD files without mounting the VCD.
Even the help says file not device.
Usage: plaympeg [options] file ...
Where the options are one of:
--noaudio Don't play audio stream
--novideo Don't play video stream
--fullscreen Play MPEG in fullscreen mode
--double or -2 Play MPEG at double size
--loop or -l Play MPEG over and over
--bilinear Use software bilinear filtering
--volume N or -v N Set audio volume to N (0-100)
--scale wxh or -s wxh Play MPEG at given resolution
--seek N or -S N Skip N bytes
--help or -h
--version or -V
Specifying - as filename will use stdin for input
