Excellent point. I have lately seen [lately = since I joined back after an overhaul of my own for more than a year now] that there are many newbie and some guru-levels questions asked on the list - which would be answered comfortably, if we had the habit of looking at man pages, info pages, howtos and logs. It is fantastic the LIH is there, but in past, myself included, we have had a tendency of turning to LIH for help a bit too soon. Since it is there and problems get sorted out. Reading the notes written by others, analysing those, looking at our own logs [or other possible sources/records of error] and being comfortable with the process is a complete skill and it can save enoromous amount of time - especially if you have plans to seriously administer and use a working Unix system someday. The earlier we get comfortable with our machine, the better. And yes, when you are at it, do not forget that the LIH archieve is there [myself included and kicked in the butt for asking about Motorola MP56PCI modem and kernel 2.4.x] All the best to us. I am going to read the Serial-line HOWTO myself :-) Rohit ********************************************************* Disclaimer This message (including any attachments) contains confidential information intended for a specific individual and purpose, and is protected by law.
