You might want to disable acceleration features in the XF86Config file.
OR
Use the FB_dev X server... This required you to use the framebuffer.

Please take a look at the manpage for X as well as video card related
documents at xfree86.org

The installation used the Framebuffer more. This mode is uses standard
(S)VGA graphics modes supported by a VESA 2.0 compliant video BIOS.
