Hi guys,
I had set up squid proxy server couple of days ago. I installed it
on my local machine. Now I want to cache most of the images, document
etc which i see when i surf the internet. My browser is also configured
to listen to port 3128 (default). But now when i surf the internet i
find that not much is cached and i am stuck with the normal speed. My
default config is :
1) http_port 3128
2) cache_mem 10 MB
3) cache_dir ufs /var/spool/squid 100 16 256
4) http_access allow localhost
5) http_access allow all
6) http_access deny all
7) cache_mgr root
Now I want to know if I have to use a tool like ipchains or ipfwadm etc.
to route all packets to the proxy (I think that this isn't neccessary
since broswer point to 127.0.0.1:3128) or add some more rules to cache
which will efficiently cache most or all of the images or documents on a
webpage. Is there a tool like Net Sonic (Win9x) for Linux, It's pretty
good when it comes to caching and all docs load immediately.Pls mail me
with your replies.
Thanks in advance !!!
