Hmm, the procedure described in your HOWTO will work. A better way to
start multiple X servers might be like this:

1) Login on console 2
2) startx -- :1

Also, why the fuss about exporting the DISPLAY variable? If you want
Netscape started on X server #2 running on :1, change to that X server
and run Netscape.
