hi all,

thnx for all of your inputs, and now I am thru,

this is how is all happened (got back to shape):

at lilo prompt : lilo root=/dev/hdc1

and it went in nicely, I think the beauty of entire stuff was that it made
me realise the fact that lilo, is undoubtedly a powerful Linux loader, for
the simple reason that

1. I can pass the command line parameters to reconfigure the missing parts
required at boot time.
2. It wont work until everything required is in proper place.

So once I was in, I edited lilo.conf with correct root partition location,
and for the RAM thing, specified addtional entry as

append = "mem=255M"

and then lilo -v to write the boot sector.

Rebooted and voila everything is in place.

Thanks all for the excellent support.

Regards

Amit Bhargava (a new Linux fan)
