AFAIK, i810 support is not distro specific. You have to have the proper XFree server installed which supports i810. I am using debian on an i810. It worked well with XFree 4.0.3, now I am on XFree 4.1. The XFree which is given with potato is 3.3.6. Just apt-get XFree from the woody tree and things should work fine.
