this is quite unusual..
check thru ur browser
http://machinename:5801/
what i gather from ur mail is that u are accessing the thing from a different 
machine..so u
should'nt have any probs
did u setup  ur passwd and other things properly??
AFAIK, the winblows server refuses connection unless the password has been allocated
it may be the same case with ur linux app
