hi
er...what is 7.1 and 7.0??
if the thing is a genuine *hardware* modem, it should work equally well with all
distros..
there is always a high chance that the internal is gonna be a win/linmodem and hence
my advise is

<shouting like an idiot>
"DON'T GO FOR AN INTERNAL MODEM UNLESS U ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT IT'S NOT A SOFT-MODEM"
</shouting like an idiot>

however, some modems are supported by kernel 2.4x only..and there, u have an advantage
of having
deadrat 7.1 over 7.0
however, still, i recommend that u avoid these winmodems that use *proprietory*
drivers for
linux..as u might not get a driver for say, the kernel 2.5x series (which has already
begun)
i speak from personal experience as i have a soft modem (PCTel) myself and i could not
upgrade to
2.4x for a long long time..and even now the 2.4x drivers are giving me a lot of
troubles.
cheers
Sayamindu
