I think currently you are only dropping packets using the 'DROP' target!
Use the 'REJECT' target instead. This will send back an error packet in
response.

eg:

# iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -s src_ip -d dst_ip --dport 6000 -j REJECT

See "iptables -j REJECT --help" for more options
