Thanks for the link. True. The mplayer developers are harsh in their
language and rigid in their approach. But they have come up with this
fantastic product.

After receiving request about this mplayer maintainers have removed that
news item from their site however in the documentation it is still there
since there are still many people who are using RH 7.1 containing this gcc
2.96 :-)

into your /etc/profile or .profile as well. Under  Borne shell 
and clones (ash, bash, ksh, and zsh).
