Getting hint from you, I could find exact point of error
> # \resizebox*{1\columnwidth}{!} {\includegraphics
> # ^^^ {fig1.eps}
...
{1\columnwidth}{!}{\includegraphics{fig1.eps}} }
^^
One can not have any space represented by ^^ above.
