Hi,

It's funny to reply to one's own query but the option which suits me is -e
(--expunge). Thanks Suresh for pointing out -b, just below -b it is -B(which
Binad suggested) and just below -B, -e is there in the man pages of
fetchmail.

I used:

fetchmail -e 4

The advantage is it doesn't throw you out at command prompt and after
downloading 4 mails sends a QUIT signal to the server and then reconnects and
starts downloading again.
