I am using RedHat 7.1 1) The partition for oracle is seprate and its healthy 2) i am using 512 mb ram, it gives some problem of shared library and throwing some exceptions, so i think it is a software problem(s).
suresh, i tried to contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] but they say, oracle 9i is supported on suse 7.1 only so, they suggested to install it on suse 7.1 . But there are people who could manage to install oracle 9i on dist. other than suse, so i think i should be able to do this. How can i be sure that, these porblem will not occure in suse 7.1. if i can get that assurance, then i can go to buy suse 7.3 which costs 3500 Rs. -kvs ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shridhar Daithankar" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, December 17, 2001 12:54 PM Subject: Re: [LIH] Re: Problem installing oracle 9i on RedHat > On 17 Dec 2001 at 16:42, kvs wrote: > > > > After configuring all, it started the installation. > > > In Linking Oracle9i Database 9.0..... phase, after 64% of completion , I > > got > > > a dialog box with error mesg. > > > "Error in invoking target install of makefile > > > /export/oracle/orahome/9.0.1/plsql/lib/ins_plsql.mk > > > >From my experiment of oracle9i installtion, I can say couple of things. > > 1)When oracle says it needs 512MB RAM min., it means it. > 2)I would recommend putting oracle installation and databases on a separate > partition and check that partition for bad blocks before you begin installing > oracle on it.
