hi everyone,

I know this is slightly off topic and does not have to do much with Linux.
Nevertheless I thought I could get some inputs from here.

Yesterday when i was downloading mail, Outlook Express gave an error and
closed. When i restarted it I found i had lost all the mail. Moreover
surprisingly I had lost the partition which was the store folder. The
partition was on the primary slave. the partition table reads more or less
as follows:
hdb1 Vfat D: ~1Gb
hdb5 Linux ext2fs ~4gb
hdb6 F: Vfat ~1 GB
hdb7 G: vfat ~1.5 GB
hdb8 H: vfat ~2GB
Hdb9 Linux ext2fs ~ 4GB
rest of the space unallocated.

I could never access h: /dev/hb8 through Linux. In order to create a mirror
of all the data just 4-5 days ago I had transferred my My documents folder
as well as my Outlook Express store folder to the drive H:. Everything was
working fine and then suddenly now windows says that the drive is not
formatted. It also says that Scandisk was run to check for errors on the
drive 5 days ago. and of course i could access the drive till that error
occured. Can some one tell me what could have happened? Also suggest ways in
which i can recover the data on on the drive?

Thanking you in advance

Regards

Rahul Palkar
