Softhome also supports pop before smtp (and you can basically also authenticate yourself by logging into softhome's webmail service - but in practice this won't work out, in cases like, for example, where the ISP forces your HTTP through a cacheflow or other caching proxy - vsnl does this) http://www.sendmail.org/~ca/email/auth.html is _the_ AUTH howto ... check it out.
