Ok guys I finally resolved the issue of one multidrop pop box being polled on
the ISP server and getting them into individual user boxes as per the
virtusertable
This is provided your sendmail and nameservers are properly configured
The line to go in /root/.fetchmailrc file is

defaults
forcecr
poll pop.isp.dom localdomains virt1.dom virt2.dom:
user maildrop with pass secret to 'esr' * here
fetchall
----------snip---------------
You will notice that I have intentionally no specified with pop3 in the recipe
above
fetchmail is invoked automatically on dialup connect by the directives in the
/etc/ppp/ip-up.local file (which should be made chmod +x )
