am unable to upgrade rh61. to 7.1 since / is not large enough. I have
added a 20GB HDD and moved /usr /usr/local and /home to it.

Q1) how to increase / (now hda has alot of space on it).

Other not so critical questions are:

Q2) tried to create a larger swap - deleted existing and made a new one
as swap using fdisk. However, neither does installer recognize it, nor
at reboot time (invalid argument - swap space argument). The book says
fdisk is enough, some man'ning and i found mkswap and dd ??

Q3) formatting - if using fdisk and mkfs does one need to format ? could
find no command to format, however i recall that installer does give
option for format! I did not format hdc, and successfully moved /usr
etc.

Q4) making a partition for /var. Currently /var is a folder in /. Tried
to make a separate partition for/var, but when i copy the backup to
newly mounted /var, then i get error messaged and the system hangs. i
am in "init 1"

I have been reading here that fdisk is better than cfdisk etc. However,
when u man fdisk it says that fdisk is buggy, requests you to use
cfdisk or sfdisk. comments ?
regards and hny.
