Yes.  However, you do have the opportunity of upgrading your setup to
Slackware 8, or Debian Potato / Woody - or to Freebsd.

As an end user I prefer text only apps - for the fact that they get the job
done, fast.  I get the maximum possible use out of them in the minimum
possible time, that way.

Log in to Single user mode. At the LILO boot prompt type in :-
'linux 1 init=/bin/sh root=/dev/hdaN' mount rw (where N is the 
number of  your root partition).  Then change the password for 
root with the command: '#passwd'
