I know this sounds silly but how many different CDs did you try ? btw, they aren't audio CDs are they ? Have you tried fiddling with dma for this drive ? Try changing the cdrom cable. > .................................. > > hdd: ATAPI 48X CD-ROM drive, 128kB Cache, DMA > Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.12 > hdd: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } > hdd: command error: error=0x54 > end_request: I/O error, dev 16:40 (hdd), sector 64 > isofs_read_super: bread failed, dev=16:40, iso_blknum=16, block=32 I used to get this error when I (unsuccessfully) tried multisession cdwriting, heh heh, your /var/log/messages should be chock a block with these messages repeated hundreds of times. I get this bread failed error when a cd that I have just written remains in the cdwriter. They stop as soon as I eject the cd from the cdwriter. hth, regards, Sharukh. -- Dr. Sharukh K. R.
