Dear friends

I have a compaq server ML370 intel architexture PIII 1.13 Ghz Dual CPU .
786 MB ram , 2 *36 GB SCSI HDD

I am looking to set up an email server which would cater to approximately
3500 users located in 40 locations accross the country. The no of users can
go up to 4000 at the most in next 2 years .

I have Suse Linux Email II software which i would like to use as my main
gateway server. I want to provide my users with web mail also this is also
available in suse mail server software.

My querries are :
1. Will the harddisk be enough for such sort of set up and i also intend to
keep RAID 1 in the HDD So effectively i would have only 36 GB HDD working
space .

2. My remote branches would be picking the mail from the server and
distributing them locally . I want a simple set up at the branches so that
it is not a regular headache for the central admin to monitor the servers at
branches. Please suggest some simple softwares for that .

3.I have a 128 kb BW to vsnl which i think should be sufficient for the
gateway server .
I already have some 75 % of my locations on VPN setup so the access to the
servers by the branches would be fast .

4. How do i make my setup more robust in terms of failsafe and redundancy Do
i put another server. as a stand by I can put another server into use but
how do i configure it .

5.I wanted a setup similar to VSNL where in the mails that are down loaded
are not on the server untill specified by the user and only the new mails on
the server are available on the web.

Please guide me thro .

Regards
raj ...
