That would be Mistake #1. Technical superiority is directly derived from the *freedom* of the source. We can improve and innovate iff there is free access to the source code and documentation. This aspect has to be advocated at the outset itself. What if; say, an year and half from hence, an *X* proprietary company brings out a better version of *Win YZ* *free of cost* for Individual use, better & technically superior than our *RootHat Linux*. Your technical superiority angle is going to fall flat on its face.
