In order to be able to assign multiple ip addressess to single NIC you should cerate 
the aliases of exixting NIC.
if your NIC is eth0 then its aliase whould be eth0:0.
You can do this by typing 'netcfg' in Xterm and selecting 'interface' tab and clicking 
'aliase'.
Which will prompt you to enter yet another ip addr with subnet mask and stuffs.
