I have my own domain w/ a few pop acounts on the server. I get a relaying
denied error if I try to send mail before I have popped my mails so I presume
they are using pop before smtp.

Of course the *technical* contact I was referred to gave me the profound
advice to use outlook, and told me to first check my mail, then send the
mail, and that I needed to do this only *the first time* and that I would not
have the same problem repeated. This after I had mentioned in my initial mail
that I used linux w/ sendmail/fetchmail/mutt combo. Maybe he thought sendmail
& fetchmail are verbs :). I also asked if they support smtp-auth but that
query was conveniently left unanswered.

Anyway, previously I had the following in my /etc/ppp/ip-up.local
----------------------
fetchmail -v &
sendmail -q
wait
---------------------

and all my mail transfer occured automatcally on going onlne (I am on a
dial-up). This has been working for me since I had initially loaded RH 5.2
(from pcq). Now with this pop before smtp business I have had to make
ip-up.local non-executable and manually run sedmail -q after fetchmail has
run.

What I want to know is how can I automate that sendmail -q should only
*after* fetchmail has done ?

regards,

Sharukh.
