Man, just tell me how in hell the external world is going to see or care
whether your LAN (with non routable 192.168 / RFC 1918 IPs) has, or doesn't
have rDNS?

That said, on a lan of any size, having an internal dns server serving up a
zone for your LAN, and acting as a local resolver / dns server for the 'net
is a pretty good idea.
