I have an alias to startx alias x="exec startx -- -bpp 32 &> .X.log"
in my .profile Then all I need to do is type 'x' and I am ready! All screen output goes to .X.log if I ever need to look at it. And I have not been able to succesfully get to the command prompt on the tty I started X on. Stopping it doesn't do a thing. Killing X drops me back to the login prompt. This can be a pain if you keep starting and stopping X often, but I don't so it is convenient and a lot safer too IMHO. -Naren On Fri, 1 Feb 2002, Philip S Tellis wrote: > Sometime on Jan 31, Naren Devaiah assembled some asciibets to say: > > > I just do something like > > > > exec startx > > > > and not have to worry about somebody trying to get in by killing the > > process or stopping it or whatever... > > > > Once you kll the X session, you automatically get logged out. > > Does this affect console.perms?
