Your pam library are corrupt. Get libraries from some one having same
distro, and copy /lib/security

If booting with any user is not possible, pass init=/bin/sh parameter to
kernel while booting or use
loadlin vmlinuz init=/bin/sh root=<your_root_partition>

Subject: [LIH] problem logging in system

Hello Lister

I am facing a problem logging into the system, as soon as the login prompt
is displayed after the system comes up, I cannot log into the system it
doesn't prompt for the password & again displays the login prompt.

I tried logging in and got in as single user, from there when i tried to
replace the package of pam.d the rpm gave segmentation fault for it & all
other package.

What should i do so that i can log into the system, I have win98, solaris 8
& Redhat linux 7.0 on my AMD athlon with ASUS motherboard.

Dipankar
