 |Hell no. Deadrat 5.0 or 5.2 had 2.2.5 ... redhat 7 had 2.2.16-something I
 |guess ... and then 7.1 shifted to the 2.4 series (with a 2.4.2-ac-something
 |IIRC)

5.x came with the 2.0 series (2.0.32 and 2.0.36 IIRC) 6.x came with the
2.2 series 7.x should have been 2.4.x 7.0 was supposed to have 2.4.0 ..
but linus took his time to be satisfied that that 2.4.0 was ready for
release... so 7.0 was "2.4 capable" but shipped with a 2.2 series kernel
*and* an optional 2.4 pre release one.

But now finally RH too has joined the numbers game ... and will now be
releasing 8.0 with a 2.4 series kernel.. playing catch with mandrake I
suppose.
