You cannot just install a server and assume emails will somehow find their way to that machine. You need what are known as MX records in your domain's DNS settings to enable other mail servers (like, say, Yahoo's) to find your machine on the Internet. You need to contact your DNS administrator for details. Incidentally, nerist.ernet.in doesn't seem to have any authoritative name servers. You might want to talk to those NCST fellows about this.
