Usually apsfilter (assuming you use that. I use Slackware and am not sure
what kind of printing system you use. If you use BSD printing tools, then
you might be ok) also defines a raw printer device or an ascii printer
device called RAW or ASCII (please check your /etc/printcap file.

You can then use the -P option with lpr to print a text file

lpr -PASCII <filename>

or

lpr -PRAW <filename>


A more complete setup would mean you would need to run the SETUP file that
comes with apsfilter and then choosing the printer from the list
presented.
