Hi, I am running mandrake 8.1 and using init level 3 for login session. KDE is set as my default desktop manger. I have also installed Gnome,sawfish and blackbox and other graphical environment.However the trouble starts when i tries to change the default window manager. Typing startx at the command prompt is normal and takes me to KDE session whereas typing "startx gnome" or "startx gnome-session" and even "startx blackbox" takes me to tvwm session instead of the desired session. Putting the lines "startgnome" or "start gnome-session" in my ~/.xinitrc gives the error message "could not found startgnome or gnome-session" and comes back to the command prompt.However, putting the same line in ~/.Xclients gets ignored and KDE starts as usual whenever "startx" command is invoked.Moreover typing startx sawfish takes me to a blank blue screeen after which i can't do anything. Well, changing to init level 5 with kdm as login manager shown only four options, default,kde,failsafe,sawfish in the dropdown list. Selecting the first two takes me kde, second one to the tvwm and the third on to the blank blue screen as i stated previously. So what approach i should take to solve this problem. Any hint or suggestions are highly appreciated.
