Hi,

On the clients, you could try doing this.  Run the
setup utility and select authentication configuration.
 Enable NIS and specify the domain name and ypserver
ip address.  This should work out.  Also you may have
to edit the /etc/nsswitch.conf file and enable nis as
the default naming service.
