o There is no relation between PS printing and x-windows. It
  is a function of your printer and the driver that you have
  installed for it.
  
o It is very much possible to print ps files in console mode

o You need to configure your printer for postscript printing
  for which a good start would be Printing-HOWTO & Printing-
  Usage-HOWTO. These are usually there with most distros.
  
o Once your printer is set, you may print ps  files from the
  command lines as described in above docs, or use ghostview
  (gv) to print out the page.

An attempt should be made to  reduce number of processes where
ever possible ... example  "cat filename | less"  is valid but
evokes 2 processes. The same is possible with "less filename",
with only one process evoked.
