not by any modern printer, only by modern *postscript* printers. common
inkjets can't print ps directly, but only with the help of filtering
programmes like ghostscript.

no need to do this manually. this conversion and spooling is done
automatically and on-the-fly by a postscript-viewer and
ghostscript-frontend like ghostview. just open the file in
ghostview("gv") and click "print". it'll take a little time, but the job
will be done, provided you have all the packages installed properly.
