My /var/log/messages listing when I tried to connect in non-Stupid mode. The
connection
could not be established and was dropped after a few seconds.

/var/log/messages listing when I managed to connect in Stupid mode. The
connection was
established, IP addr allotted, but could not browse or Ping any address
other than the ISP Server!
Tried dig/host as suggested, but could not resolve address. The connection
was finally terminated manually
using Ctrl-C.

As mentioned above, could not lookup any address using dig/host, nor Ping
any address
