mplayer gives this error for the old version of binutils package. Upgrade
your package to the latest one. I don't remember here the exact version no.
Will let you know from home tonight. Till than try to upgrade to latest
version of binutils package and than compile mplayer.

This problem is there in mplayer FAQ. They have given the above solution
too. It was asked many times on mplayer faq.
