my linux box was showing correct time. but when i
checked the preferences and it showed some time zone
other than asia/cal, so i changed it asia /cal
and now the system time is always ahead by 5 and half
hours (must be IST) after every restart. however the
h/w clock shows correct time.

how to go about rectifying this?
