hi list,
    I am currently on a netware LAN.My machine , openlinux 3.1, has a
Dynamic ip addr. While installing the os, I had specified the ip
addr as static. Later on, people are sometimes unable to ping me by
name, ie, name resolution is not happenning.
realizing that I have a dynamic ip addr, I had changed settings on my
machine to DHCP ip addr (from static).
but the problem didn't go away.
Now, my sysadmin says that I should have a static ip addr, as linux
m/c acting as DHCP clients do not update the DNS with the new
hostname:ipaddr pair.
Is this true?? or does this happen only with netware LANs?
    TIA
        -Peeyush
