Hi suresh, As you suggested, i have installed dnscache + tinydns. Here is what i have done
I have installed daemontools, djbdns-1.05.tar.gz and doc.tar.gz ( documents for djbdns) i compiled djbdns and then change the /etc/inittab file as mentioned but after rebooting the machine, i am getting message supervise: fatal: unable to acquire dnscache/supervise/lock: temporary failure constantly. Also i want to clear some doubt about it i read the how_to_install document on the website. after changing /etc/inittab file and creating some directory with daemontools i removed my nameserver from /etc/resolv.conf and put nameserver 127.0.0.1 now nowhere is mentioned where is my isp's dns , then how would it resolve the name? when i did dig yahoo.com it showed me result. Secondly, i want to make this machine as dns for my LAN. I dont want to resolve the name of my machines ,but i want the machines in my LAN to use this as domain name server for internet also. now here is what i did. i compiled and installed djbdns. installed daemontools. created some accounts as suggested in documents with direcotries. then created /service directory and run dnscache-conf for that directory. I linked the service directory to dnscache directory. then changed /etc/inittab file for svscan to run automatically. is it sufficient or i have to do something more ? where tinydns comes in the picture. ? --kunal _______________________________________________ linux-india-help mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-india-help
