Dear List members i m trying to make an mail server on RedHat Linux. Using sendmail 8.9 and fetchmail 5.x. Sendmail providing SMTP services and Fetch mail POP3 services. SMTP is using default port 25 and POP3 110. Both are enabled in /etc/services. inetd.conf has been tailered and able to start services responcible for. When we use #telnet <mailserver_ip> 25, SMTP port has conneected and responded. But when we did #telnet <mailserver_ip> 110, it says that connection refused. We had recheck the /etc/services for POP3 services, it is enabled. Can u tell me we have to install additional software any rpm in our box? We found on net that pop3d.tar package is required. But cann't understand why #telnet <mailserver_ip> 110 in not responding. Can u help. TIA Nasimuddin Ansari
