mysql is wonderfully documented. Man, you must read the contents atleast
before you give like that.
I think there is something called as `safe_mysqld &`

this will do the trick probably... i use  RPMS, so i dont need to do the
hardwork.

check out the manual Shridhar ;-) I am sure, you will grow to like it and
probably praise, it once u see, the hard work behind that manual.
