This is a problem of old BIOSes coupled with old LILO
(the infamous 1024-voodoo).In case you do NOT want to
disturb the NT setup, you cannot  dual-boot from  HDD
with LILO.

You can however, dual boot from:

a) boot.ini through Win-NT boot process.  For details
   you may like to have a look at:

b) Using alternate boot loaders like grub.

This accesses a front-compressed filename database, created as
root using the command "updatedb".  /usr/bin/frcode is used to
