Dear Linux experts,

( Debian 2.2 r5 )

I was editing lilo.conf as a root, suddenly there was power failure,
since then I have received over 50 messages from Nvi recovery program-
Root was editing a file lilo.conf, when it was saved by Nvi recovery
program, if you want to recover the changes to that file do
vi -r /etc/lilo.conf

I dont want to recover the changes, I just want to turn off these
messages, which i receive every time I boot into linux, Any suggestion
?

Secondly, in my quest to get my internal modem (ESS PCI V.90 )
working, I inserted module esscom.o ( as per details available at
http://walbran.org/sean/linux/linmodem-howto-4.html ) forcefully, then
forcefully inserted modules ppp.o and slhc from 2.2.14 kernels. Still
the modem doesnt work and demod shows *** unresoved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.2.19/fs/binfm_aout.o.

What have I done here, I dont know. Can somebody guide me further ?

Now what should I do about Unresolved symbols ?

Any help is welcome.
thanks.

~Sachin
