My Question is, should I go for branded Servers (PC actually, which I
will convert into server with Linux) like Compaq Presario or HP etc.? If
yes which would be better for linux (Debian Potato)?

Well if you can afford a MNC PC, it is your choice. But to install Debian Potato
you dont need an MNC brand IMO. I am using Potato for last few years on an
assembled PC (AMD 600MHz)

If assembled pc should work, which network, sound and graphic cards
            should I prefer?

I use RTL8139 chipset NIC, S3 Trio SVGA, & C-Media Sound Card

Regards
