Here's a simple example with explanation, using ipchains, http://www.oofle.com/docs/linuxipchains.htm. Use Philip's glob (*.msg.yahoo.com) instead for blocking ranges because yahoo now uses a much wider range of msg.yahoo.com- resolved IP numbers than when the the example above was written. Also, iptables (ipchains' successor) will much easier to use and is probably already installed on your box.
