Hello,
Authenticating the users is possible by using 'proxy_auth' acl in
squid.

For configuring acl, see
http://squid.visolve.com/squid24s1/access_controls.htm

Squid comes with a few authentcation processes. These includes:

NCSA: Uses an NCSA-style username and password file.
MSNT: Uses a Windows NT authentication domain.
PAM: Uses the Linux Pluggable Authentication Modules scheme.
SMB: Uses a SMB server like Windows NT or Samba.

Note: Authentication can be used only in proxy mode(Not in Transparent
Mode).

Regards,
Keerthi
