While toying around in my win98 partition, I accidentally destroyed
lilo. Usually, under such circumstances, I use the 1st CD of my RH7.2 to
do a rescue. It mounts my system under /mnt/sysimage and I gain access
by chroot /mnt/sysimage, and do a lilo -v to restore.
This time, I could not go through with the above. I had to enter into
expert mode, choose upgrade and since there were no dependencies, the
expert mode simply rewrote lilo in the mbr and I was back.
Was this because earlier I had ext2 FS and now I have ext3, and the
rescue mode in RH7.2 CD is meant only for ext2 ?

K.Ghosh
